Bao Phi has won the Minnesota Grand Poetry Slam twice and was a finalist in the National Poetry Slam. He has appeared on HBO’s Russel Simmons Presents Def Poetry as the first Vietnamese American.
He is currently the Program Director at The Loft Literary Center, a nonprofit literacy organization in Minneapolis. The Loft Literacy Center strives to advance artistic development of writers and inspire passion for literacy. They work to offer a variety of writing classes, conferences, grants, readings for both established and emerging writers.
