David F. Walker

David F. Walker is perhaps best known for his magazine publication BadAzz MoFo which has become regarded as an indispensable resource guide to black films of the 70s. He is recognized as a leading scholar of African American cinema and has produced one of the definitive documentaries on Blaxploitation films, Macked, Hammered, Slaughtered, and Shafted.

He is also an award-winning comic book writer. Some of his works include, Shaft, Power Man and Iron Fist, Nighthawk, and Number 13. Alongside writing comic books, he has also authored the YA series The Adventures of Darius Logan. Recently, he co-authored Reflections on Blaxploitation: Actors and Directors Speak, as well as wrote Becoming Black: Personal Ramblings on Racial Identification, Racism and Popular Culture.

Because of his expertise in African American cinema, he is also a highly regarded educator. He has taught courses on documentary filmmaking, comic book writing, and film criticism through a variety of locations including the Pacific Northwest College of Art.
